Hello folks:

I been busy re-doing the front brakes on the DOdge Cummins truck the last few days. Working a 2nd shift schedual and trying to do other things makes it a pain to get ANYTHING done. Also while I had the truck apart, I decided to finally install my new Borgesen steering shaft as well. Well, as things go, I went and bought new rotors for it, and put one rotor-hub-stud assembly back together. It went smooth and everything fit and went like clockwork. THen I try the other side... I set rotor on the hub,and install studs. Well, after I got it done, the rotor was loose on the hub! I made several tries and pounding the studs in farther, and still wont set right! What the heck? So I pulled the studs back out and re-installed them several time, and it still wont seat! Doh! Well, I call a friend and he stops over to give me a 2nd opinion. I tear the assembly back down again and he and I check EVERYTHING. Turns out, the countersunk holes in the back of the rotor were too deep and the studs would 'bottom out' on the shoulder, but not seat in the rotor! AHA! Ok, well, take rotor back, explain problem, they order up a new one.

New rotor arrives, I take the other 'new' rotor in, and we check. It looks much better, so I take new one home. Well, again, I install it on hub with studs and yet, on this rotor, they studs wont seat all the way! Doh! Not again! Well, I try and remove and reinstall studs a few times, and still, no go! This rotor does not have as much 'slop' on the hub as the last one, but still is totally 'unacceptable' nonetheless. Well finally, I get pissed off, slap tires back on truck, and wheel it out of the garage and get the garage open so Mom can have it back for her use. Man, I am pissed, very pissed! And.....To add insult to injury, when I pull truck out, I end up blowing a front brake line...Go figure!

I wont have time to get to the truck untill next week, so Its just gonna set for a few days. I am gonna pull the rotor back off, and see whats up. Stay tuned for part II of 'Lube's Rotor Rant' next week.

By the way, I been buying my parts thru one of these small town parts places. Never ever had a problem with anything from there before..but I noticed on the box today that it said made in china...go figure.....
