This is quite common. I've had two gas tanks that have both had holes in the pick-up tube caused from rust. You can easily repair the tank but it needs to come out of the truck & be gas-free'd so it can be soldered on.
Take it to a rad shop & HURRY...Hollister is only 10 days away!
Seriously...it's a $50 repair at a good radiator shop or easy to repair yourself if you have the tank boiled.
Some dislike boiling gas tanks because it removes the plating from the inside of the tank & could cause future rust but generally when you're boiling a tank...rust is already the problem. So long as you line the tank with gas tank sealer when you've finished it will be better than it ever was when it was new.
