I fixed one of my trucks using a piece of 3/8 I think flat stock that I sanded down with my table sander to round it off and make it look like the original sheet metal filler piece. Then I sandblasted the cab seam and bent the flat stock to fit the roof. Then I welded some 8-32 screws to the back of the strip to hold it down, (you have to make sure you place them where you can reach them on the inside to get a nut on them) a little seam sealer to seal it up, and it looks like the original, I couldn't see mickey mousing the paper thin original filler piece.
