It is quite an accomplishment to even be able to change the oil, much less the plugs on the newer vehicles.

A couple of weeks ago, I was changing the thermostat on the W200 and had both daughters sitting on the inner fenderwell "benches" watching the action. All 3 of us were participating in the fun.

I'm with Lube - I'd much rather drive something that I understand and can fix than the new-fangled stuff.

When I want heat, I just pull the knob marked H, when I want defrost, I pull the one marked D. If I get hot, I roll down the windows. All of the "toys" come with a non-repairable computer chip and you can count on at least $300 to replace it out when it goes bad.

I used to carry a toolbox with me wherever I would go. Now with the new cars, I just carry a cellphone.

Man, I'm starting to scare myself - I probably would have been skeptical about them new-fangled monkey-motion overhead valves when they came out, too!
