The picture is upside down in relation to how the drag link tube is mounted or connected. The picture's right side end is the axle end, the left side is the steering gear arm end. You need to keep that in mind when assembling the parts to get them in the right order at each end. If the steering is adjusted properly and parts are not worn bad, there would be not way the tube would separate from the balls.

Look for:

1. Cracks in the tube end that separated;
2. Worn or out-of-round balls at the axle and steering arm end;
3. The sockets should have about a 1/32 rig around the top of the socket cup. If yours does not have it, there worn, replace them;
4. Make sure the knuckle arm bolts are tight and the steering gear shaft fit tight in the steering box (no slop when turn the steering wheel and rotating the shaft [worn housing bushings is the issue]);
5. It's important that the parts are assembled in the correct order at each end and the adjustment of the sockets are correct. Make sure you adjust according to the Manual.
