Don't be afraid to break the wire. Pull hard. If the wire breaks you can grab the top of the sock filter(Metal ring) with some vise grips. If the sock is dry try pouring some oil in the filter.
Just my two cents.
Consider the source. I can't get mine to fire on all cylinders.
Worked great in Tennesse, must be Mason-Dixon line fever ya'll.
