Looking at my 79 TrailDuster and my 82 dodge, the later 80's and early 90's front fenders have a definite crease or edge in them about 6" below the top of the fender, door and bed(runs horizontal). The 70's style does not have this. If you put newr doors with older fenders, I don't think it will line up very well.
As to what year they switch, I don't know.
Between 80 and 82...I think 80...
