How do I figure which terminal is on the 24V Gen

I have the Military 24 volt Generator and it has a Jack coming out of it with no idenification on the conections! I do not have a Military Regulator or Cable right now and want to use pin conectors to go to the Civilan 24 volt Regulator to make it work for now. This is my last hold up on the re/wire of it. I am about 85%+ done wiring it now. Any ideas on how to figure what the 3 conections are. I think they are Generator, Feild and Negitive just don't know which is which? Thanks, Mark H.
