Zephyr V-12s were puny

The 292 cu. in. Lincoln motors did not have a great reputation. Th eolder, bigger motors might be a different story.

How about a Lycoming V-12? They were designed in the early 30's for Auburn displacing aroiund 390 cu. inches. American LaFrance used the same engine in firetrucks up through the 1960's. The later engines were bored and stroked to 540 cubic inches.

I think Seagrave and Pierce Arrow had a similar relationship.
