Another GMC Hydro question

Thanks for the answer to my weight question. I'm too lazy to go to the proper forum, but I promise this will be my last GMC question.

Were all of those sloped-nose GMCs equipped with automatic (or HYDROmatic) transmissions? Do they work after sitting for years and years? I've always been tempted to buy one, because they are cheap, but always afraid I could not get the transmission to work or the brakes to stop.
