My two cents on the engine swap is to get a cummins out of a dodge truck with a 24 valve before they went to electronic injection. You can buy some banks parts and realy make that thing have some power.
Whatever engine you go with you will need a gear change. Diesels like to grunt. Low rpm is the ticket.
