Used full strength, the acid solution actually bubbles, then I 'pet' it (scubbing not required) to remove the loose rust, and resoak. The blackness will stain your fingers.

Re: parkerizeing, I got the recipe off the net. They used acid from a chemical supply house,said add zinc equal in weight to the Phosphoric acid, heat bath to 140 deg. Try a web search, or try a batch...I figured soaking hot dipped zinc hardware would get some zinc into solution. I won't try it on my Winchester first, though a model 25 riot gun would be an appropriate object.....

Or try Brownell's.com, they sell gun finishs and stuff like that.
