Those are not bad trucks. I have had quite a few of the full time Dodge trucks. Heck, even sold my '79 Ramcharger last year. I dont care much for the full time 4X4 tho. They get bad milage, suck gas, and put lots of wear on drivetrain parts. Several things to be aware of are: do NOT Drive it without a front driveshaft! If you drive it without a front shaft, then you will kill the transfer case fast! Many guys pull the front shaft and then put the T-Case in Hi Lock and after a while you will hear a clunking sound then it gets worse, then it quits. Heck, I feel the same way about pulling the front shaft on a full time 4X4 truck as most guys feel about tow bars! LOL! You can get a part time kit for the transfer case, BUT your axle WILL still be turning all the time. The only real soulution to that if you have a Dana 44 front is to swap out front axles. If you leave the full time Dana 44 axle in it, KEEP THOSE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS GREASED! When you pull the front tires off, there are acess holes I THINK in the rotors if I recall right, for grease fittings. Grease the wheel bearings about 2-3 times a year. Enjoy!
