Jerry it is an "air cushion" ride. There is a lever under the driver side of the seat that opens or closes(left to right) to make the seat softer or firmer. I'm not sure exactly how well it works. This was optional equipment. Once you get the seat out and turn it upside down you will see the mechanism. I usually find this type of seat bottom in the larger 1.5 tom trucks.
