It's finished. I drove my 59PJ home tonight. We had a machine shop repair the input shaft and build a brass bushing for the gear shaft. New bearings and seals, new parking brake lining. Thanks to everyone who responded to my cry for help. I decided to go this route since the rest of the case was in good shape, didn't want to chance shipping another one across the country and finding the same problems.
