Never had any problem with the lift gate or tail gate popping out. I rebuilt the latches. Replacing the worn rods really took the slop out of the back end. The tail gate does rub a little on the drivers side. The back end of the carryall naturally flexes quite a bit. I had to reweld all the corners of the tail gate area as they were cracked. This seemed to stablize things back there quite abit.
