According to the experts tracking this problem, the paniced user usually pulls the hose that is on fire out of the gas inlet with the automatic trigger still engaged, at this point, it is a flame thrower shooting lit gasoline all over the trunk. Then the user turns the nozzle to the side and drops it, there goes the gas station. Now I understand why some stations did not have that automatic fill clip.
