I talked to the owner last night about the truck, and he explained that 6 of these trucks were built as prototypes and test vehicles for the Canadian army by Chrysler Canada in Windsor Ontario. When the program was completed, it was decided that it was too expensive to produce, the program was terminated and the vehicles and parts were disposed of. John, the owner, bought 2 and all of the spares, sold one to a friend in Quebec, and brought this one to BC when he moved here. Originally they had a 318 and 727, but John has modified his with a VN turbo diesel made in Italy. It's all aluminum, sealed so that it's fully amphibious, and apparently goes anywhere. It had 1060 miles on it when he got it, and he has put about another 1000 on it himself, but it's been rebuilt using the parts he got with it, so he says it's like brand new. Sounds like a real interesting collectors piece as well as a blast to play with on the weekends. John is 85 years old now, with osteoporosis and just can't get around much anymore to use it. Wish I had $45,000...
