I saw tonight that 87% of the American people (when do 87% of Americans agree on anything?) suport keeping the pledge as is. I have never seen anyone who stood, but not spoken the pledge harassed, although I suppose it has happened. Part of liberty is the right to not say the pledge, or stand for the anthem, or to believe in God. That being said, the right to do those things also should not be abridged by the minority, and that is what is happening now. No one is saying that the pledged must be forced upon anyone, only that we should have the right to say it if we so desire. Nor should one's sexual orientation be a indication of one's pariotism.
