We had this debate several months ago & I too am near certain that grease from a grease gun is not the proper method to fill the front knuckles.
I believe the Semi-Fluid Chassis grease that was specified for these knuckles was about the consistancy of STP & if you look at the picture in your owners manual, that is not a grease gun they are dispensing the fluid from.
The level hole is exactly that in my opinion...there should be no grease above that hole & pumping multi purpose grease in through the zirc fitting on the top will overfill your knuckles.
That's my opinion but by all means, fill them full of whatever makes you happy!
