Sales gimic. No slab can be placed in CA without re-inforcing. The fiberglass leaves a "hair" on the surface that soon wears off, but it makes it impossible to "burn" in the finish and get a really hard, smooth finish. I'm talking about a finish that will reflect your image! 'Burned' in finishes actually temper the surface and make it more resistant to damage, "dusting" and staining.
The fiberglass is not strong enough to resist cracking caused by shrinkage, heaving, or up-lift.
