i have been in the camp of make it stronger then you have to.a friend of mine once stated that building code is the bare minumim. i do not have much experience with construction however my dad was an electrician for 42 years and a friend of his once told me. if you are going to pay for a house for 30 years then the roof better last that long and everything else better last longer then that.his floors did not squeak and his walls were straight.he died in the late 60`s and his houses are still doing fine.and being in california they stood up to a few big quakes.anyway that is my rant for the evening steve
