Thanks for all the valuable input. I'm going to spoil myself and go with a new JD GT235. I've never had any vehicle or piece of equipment new, and it's about time. The GT series has a stronger drive, and wider tires than the lawn series (L, LT, or LX) and has traction assist, that the others don't. My Father-in -law bought his JD 185 around '87, has about 1.5 acres to mow, and replaced the drive belts along with the pulley bearings for the first time last year. Thanks again.
