Basically the glass is under stress and that is why it is breaking. Check for a slightly bent frame. Also if the glass is not cut cleanly around the edges cracks will have a starting point. It does not take much of a nick in the side of the glass and a little stress to pop the glass. Did both panes break in a similar place?
Have had my carryall glass in for many years and have had no problems.
