A lot of people have a virus. People have been getting e-Mail that looks to be from my site with the virus attached as well, but when I dig into the message header it came from a student at Univ. of Michigan.
My WEB provider tells me there isn't anything that can be done except keep good anti-virus software running and don't open any e-Mail from some one you don't know.
But this doesn’t help either, as I got an e-Mail that appeared to by from mo Mom that turned out to have a virus attached. Fortunitly my software caught it, but I was afraid she had a virus. Not the case, the from addresses are being made to look like they are coming from someone you know while they really came from some one else.
So they aren’t getting e-Mail from you, just e-Mail that looks like they are from you. If they can view the header you can see additional details on where the e-Mail came from in reality.
I follow the same rule that if you send me a e-mail that is ambiguous, and vague, I'm not going to open it. I’ll either bounce it back (with a program called mail washer) or just dump them, then clear them out of the trash.
