1. Check for bubbles in the coolant when the engine is running - no bubbles good sign!
2. Any oil in the coolant? - no oil good sign!
3. Any blue smoke out the exhaust? - no smoke good sign!
4. Any water vapors out the exhaust? - no vapors good sign!
Possibilities
- valve clearance too tight
- burnt piston
- carbon between valve and seat
If valve clearance is ok, take off the head!
