I learned electronics on old army-surplus radios, and generally get hold of any that comes my way. I don't have an AN/GRR5, but I poked around on the internet it appears to be a WWII-vintage AM receiver that goes up to 18 MHz. It uses some odd tubes, so it might be kind of hard to fix. If it's old and has sat for a long time, even if it used to work, you will probably need to replace most of the capacitors. Of course you'll need to know how to troubleshoot radios. The basic theory is just like any 5-tube AM table radio, and a person could probably work their way through it without a schematic if need be. It runs on AC power or various vehicular voltages. I have no idea what it's worth. It's probably in the category of what radio guys call "boat anchors", but I'm sure it's worth a few bucks to somebody who collects such things. Personally, I'd pick it up I saw it at a yard sale cheap, just to add it to the "museum". If I could get it to work, and could find a place to mount it, it would be a fun addition to any MV, just to tune the AM broadcast band.

Here are a couple links I found:
