I did, But mostly from ignorance than anything scientific. The regular oil would all seep out over time. The corn head grease has stayed in. That has got to be better. Same with the winch. The oil would seep past the (new) seals and I would end up with a dry housing. I mentioned using the corn head grease on Gordons Forum and it was like I said I was going to use fetal blood or something. The dire predictions of doom were many. So far the winch hasnt dissolved, fallen off or any other horrible thing. I suspect it actually likes having a lubricant which stays around.
