I think these Crew Cabs Matt builds have come a long way since the first one he built sitting in my garage. I can say that I've done lots & lots of fitting & sheet metal work in my day & I would not be able to build these trucks & make any money selling them for what Matt sells them for when you consider the hours that have gone into them.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder & I honestly don't think it's any different chopping two trucks in half to build a crew cab than installing a non-stock power plant in one or even changing the original color of a P/W to a non-original color or installing a dual master cylinder in one for that matter.
Matt continues to sell them so it's obvious that there is demand for them & if you look at Joe's picture link & look at the number of hits he's had on the Crew Cab section, you'll see there is more interest in the Crew Cabs than the Swivel frames & even the Woodies.
Keep in mind non of these trucks are stock boys...there were no Crew Cabs made at Dodge nor any Swivel frames. These were done by shops not much biger than Matt's operation down in good ol' KY!
I'm a firm believer that a bone stock truck with the original equipment is worth the most money but they certainly aren't the most interesting to look at nor do they take a large amount of creativity or talent to restore.
There will always be critics of work like this but I personally think Matt's taking junk & making it into fun usable equipment.
We can all critique the work but be careful because someone will be critiquing your when your project is done too.
That's my take on it.
