Yep, I can relate. I fixed up my first truck (53 International) when I was 12, built one out of two. Used it to get around the farm. I was raking hay with a Farmall 360 at that age (alone) also. Second vehicle, restored when I was 16, 74 Pontiac GT. Had to sell it when I was 18 cuz of to many speeding tickets (got all those on my own also). Had my first motorcycle at 12, at 14 spent the night in the town pokey cuz I ran into a parked cop car with it. I was alone in the pokey (which was probably a good thing) To scared to call my dad.
I think I turned out for the better???????
Now, I really like having a truck that doesn't do more than 55 mph.
Wow! at least they have a 40lbs limit on kid seats up here. Kids hit 40lbs or 5yrs whichever comes last and their done, just the belts.
I read a good book on this topic a while back. The Death of Common Sense.
