I've tried supporting the front axle of my deuce on a pair of "6 ton" jack stands pretty well extended, but the crunching creaking noises plus the way the extension leaned made me too nervous. That's with less than 2 tons of load on each stand. Like the collapsed tranny jack, I think the 6 ton rating is "Harbor Freight tons" which are equal to 1.5 real tons. Now I put cribbing and a block right under the pumpkin. Did something similar with the front of my backhoe last fall when I had to spend a long time under it grinding the crank in place. Being out in the hills with no one around also adds to my caution factor.
