I owned a former telephone company 1952 PW that had 27,000 miles on the clock in 1968, when I bought it for $600 in Long Lake, NY.

In 1979, I bought a restored former fire department 1968 WM300, from the Albany NY area, for $8500 that had a true 8500 miles on it. When I sold it in 2000, it had 14,000 on it. Fire department vehicles, of course, have very low miles, in general. Our departnment has a working 1954 6-wheel (4X4) Ford 700 "Big Job" Marmon-Herrington conversion with 28,000 miles, most of which is parade mileage. It is a pump & run brush fire engine that looks brand-new.

My current truck, a 1954, has 14,270 miles, and that is a believable total, as the truck was used by one owner to go from the farm to the feed store every week.
