You know Mannyc, I kind of agree with you!
My Neighbor plays around with '88-up Chevy and GMC's and Absolutely loves them. The thing I dont like about em is the IFS in the front. I prefer a truck with leaf springs and lockouts for a 4X4. But anyhow, I have spent alot of time in a '88 up GM and they are very very nice trucks, and they do run forever. My neighbor has a '89 Z-71 Shortbed with the origional 350 TBI in it, and it has 329K on it, and still runs great. It has ran syntheitic oil all its life tho. It is a heck of a truck, Its not a new truck by anymeans but still runs great. And with the '88 UP GM's, when you blow a CV shaft, its only like $80. and takes only an hour to change..Compare that to tearing a Straight axle apart.

What would be ideal for me is a Dakota Club cab shortbox 4X4 with a 4BT Cummins, 5 speed OD and 2.73 gears. It would be the perfect drive to work and back truck, that would pull over 30 MPG, but yet, still be able to get me out of my driveway in the winter.
