Since I was the instigator of that rust proofing issue I will follow through...

I had a chance to talk with the rep of POR at the Barrie antique car flea market. POR 15 seems to be very good but to get the full benifit you must apply it directly to the rusted surface. If you use some converter underneath or any other paint for that matter you are loosing the full benefit of the chemical bond of the POR to the pitted rough surfaced rusted steel.

That is not to say that a good converter would not be just as good. In fact inside the frame, where their will be no abrasion a good thin fluid converter poured in one end and drip through the channel might be the best and cheapest solution. I would favor the rust converter called EXtend from NAPA??? since it is claimed to be self mending, spreads over cracks and leaves a fairly heavy black coating.

I fully intend to use POR 15 on the frame of my PW since it will be exposed to road grit and somewhat visible. From what I have seen at the booth demo once that POR as dried is will bend, flex, resist chipping under repeated hammer blows and withstand heat up to approx 400 degrees which makes their silver suitable for the engine block.

Please keep posting results of the frame repairs and rust issues since this is of interest to many of us desperately trying to defeat Mother nature.

Would love to hear what some of you are using to undercoat the fenders.... some have mentioned that hard plastic Goo they use to spray the inside of truck boxes as a substitute to a box liner.... sound interesting....

Thanks for all the ideas and input.... Bob C.
