Just got back from the 12th Vintage Power Wagon sponsored rally in Fairfield, Ia. I will be brief, but it was a fantastic time.
There were people from California to New Jersey. I came from IA
and am not really too afraid to say so.
About 100 trucks of all vintages from WC12s to 70's W300s and
everything in between. Dave Butler and his staff really put on
a good rally. If you ever wanted to buy a truck, this is the
place to come; there were at least 10 trucks for sale brought by individuals, and Vintage has about 20 M37's for sale as well as other trucks such as some late 50's civilian models. I guess the star of the show was Frank Irons with his old style PW with the 440 and Dana 70 axles, and the perfect metal finish. I could not find a scratch or imperfection in it. The parade was a sight to see; 100 trucks in convoy is something. Wish I had the video.
The trail ride was tough; one mint M37 did not make it out of the hole. I think it is still there. I did not go on that one: I drove my WM300 in the Pansey one because I don't like mud much deeper than my running boards.
Open house at Vintage showed you millions of parts. THEY HAVE IT. You don't need to search for parts. Just call VPW. No one has as wide a selection as they do. I am sure someone will be
putting pictures on here but I do not have a scanner.
I am already planning to attend the number 13, year 00 rally.
