Engine knock - Please Help!

I have a nice '66 WM300 with a 251. The engine has developed a bad knocking sound and I'm looking for help. This seems to have been getting louder and less intermittent as time goes on. You can only hear it when its idling. Below are two samples of the sound.

Second Sample (284K)

Any ideas on what this is would be appreciated. Any comments on how to diagnose further would also be appreciated.
