I had a 46 jeep with a cracked block and head from freezing. On the head I took a small grinder and opened up the top of the crack to form a v-shape. Ialso ground clean about 1/2 inch on each side of crack. I then took J.B. Weld and mixed it a little heavy on the hardener, then covered all of the areas that I had ground mounding it up about 3/8 inch. This crack was T-shaped about 4 inch by 3 inch. The crack on the block was on a flat surface and about 3.5 inches long. I made a plate out of 1/8 steel slightly larger than the crack. I then drilled and tapped 4 holes in water jacket and made a gasket the size of the plate and bolted the plate to block. Old jeeps have very low cooling system pressure so none of this may work on a dodge flathead. By the way I ran the jeep 7 more summers after the lowbuck and unorthodox repair. Good luck!
