The really odd thing is that Eaton/Fuller overdrive 6 spds are rated at 515 ft-lb for the aluminum case 16.5" Euro-version that weighs 252 lbs and up to 860 ft-lb for the 20" cast iron version that weighs 356 lbs. The NV5600 weighs 340 and I don't know how long it is, but the 4500 is 18" so the 5600 has to be at least 20". Why didn't they use proven gearboxes? these are all-synchro units that use "low-force synchronizer technology" and allow "easier shifting due to increased lever ratio, reduced shift stroke, and new synchronizer friction material." So what's the problem? Is new venture trying to re-invent the wheel? And once again, why don't they listen to me, they wouldn't be having input shaft and input bearing failures if the trucks were geared to use a transmission with high gear direct, i.e. 3.08 or 2.73 final drive ratios. People are going to tow in high gear no matter what the owner's manual or placard on the sun visor says.
