Most foam is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture). It will stay damp and hold the water in contact with your frame for years. The best thing to get rid of moisture is good air circulation.

I would recommend a good two part epoxy paint to seal the part, and leave it at that. In areas that traditionally trap moisture (overlapping sheet metal), clean and dry thoroughly, then seal around the perimeter using a fillet of polysulfide aircraft fuel tank sealant (PR-1422). It adheres tenaciously, and cures to a hard, rubber like state. It can also be painted over when cured. It is available from Aircraft Spruce and Specialty in Corona, California, as well as from most other aircraft supply houses.

Also, make sure that all your drain holes in the doors and other trapped areas are open, as they traditionally get blocked by rust flakes, leaves, mouse droppings, etc.
