OK the stock brakes are really just a cable arrangement to the parking brake levers, so no hydraulics are involved. You might be able to retrofit a M37 wheel cylinder to the brake and run the drums that way. I did not go that route because I wanted disk brakes all the way around and the original M37 brakes are not very good even when adjusted up decent. After rolling my truck and throwing my trailer down the road I wanted brakes I could count on.

OK the A2 version of the trailer was typically towed behind the M715 and the hubs are differant than the M37 rims. However they kept the trailer basically the same as the A1 version. So it is a simple swap of the entire lunnette at the end of the tongue.

OK not so simple. I found the guts and mounting plates etc. from one dealer and the housing was tweaked. 10 ton press straightened it up. welded a minor crack, sand blast, etc. Then found another surge hitch that had no flanges, etc. but the guts are all the same so swappo presto and I was in business. took me about2-3 years to find, fix and fab the parts. A delaer in Maryland had the trailer parts manual. he advertises in MM and sells mostly M115 parts. Get the manual so you know what you are looking for.

If you are in a hurry forget it! This stuff takes patience and time. Thats why it is a fun hobby!
