I got a 99 F350 from my father when he passed away. It does very well on the road and gets good gas miliage. It gets a consistent 10 MPG on flat freeway at 65 to 70 MPH or over the mountains. The worst I have seen is 8 MPG when I was climbing mountains on Forest Service roads and traveling up the Central Valley in CA with a 40+ MPH head wind.
Oh by the way, I have always had a large fully equiped camper in the bed with a GVW scale weight of 11,400#. I have no clue what it would get empty as I have never had the camper off except to have the bed lined and put air bags in the rear (Stupid Ford allows the backend to sag 4" before the overloads kick in and with the weight I carry it was dragginn its rear going down the road).
