The standard PW rim is a semi-drop center rim that uses a split lock ring of the "S" type. Once the lock ring’s bead is in its rim seat, it’s locked. When mounting a tire, as the tube inflates the tire slides over the lock ring’s flange and locks the ring against the rim for a double and permanent lock. Of the lock ring type rims, this one is the safest to work with. You just need to make sure the bead and seat are free of rust buildup and rap a chain in and out of the rim and around the tire, connect the chain ends by bolt, for an added measure of safety when inflating the tube.
