Harley, Honda, and nearly ALL of the other bike manufacturers have powder coated their frames since the 70's. It worked so good that fenders and other parts have been coated since the early to mid 80's.
I coated the bumpers on my CJ, after 10 years there are no nicks or chips, including rocks, bugs and one toyota!!ha!ha! (the toyota part is real!)
