I hear ya you mean Mike. I started off working on old trucks with points ignition systems, Caburetors etc. Heck, the first 4 vehicles I had were points type. I am 24 now. I got my start on Small engines and antique farm tractors and worked my way up to cars and trucks. Heck, it was not untill 4 years ago, I bought my first fuel injected vehicle! It took me a long time to grasp electronic ignition and fuel injection. WHen I worked in the auto repair shops, they used to have me work on the older stuff, because I was one of the only people who knew how to set point dwell etc. I find it funny and even sad when people who are older than me, call me to come over to show them how a points ignition system works, or how to properly set a manual choke on an old truck, or even how to clean and refill and oil bath air cleaner!

I have some of those Crouse tech books that you speak of, and refer to them quite frequently.
