My machine shed did not include a concrete floor in the price, and I provided the siding (poplar cut from my woods) and some of the 2X4's. Also I got free telephone poles from the electric company (they stockpile old poles and let the public have them, first come first serve)and so did not have to buy 6X6 posts. Finally, I bought the 2X10's girders from a local sawmill green and air dried them myself, saving considerable money. If necessary I could have also bought siding from the sawmill (significantly cheaper than T-111).
I guess my point is that with a few strategies a person could build a pretty big building without spending a ton of money. I realize that not everyone has access to sawmills and free telephone poles for posts.
It might be worth checking with your local power company to see if they would let you have poles, it saves a lot on cost.
Since I built it I have poured some concrete. put up the siding, and am getting ready to close it in for NEXT winter. Running 220 volts out for a big compressor this spring (for sandblasting)
