Priming the filter should not be a problem since it has nothing to do with oil flow to the bearings. They take the oil off the bearings to feed the oil filter then after it is filterd it goes back into the pan not into the bearing. Tomorrow I will dig into my manuals and double check since this is all off the top of my head. This is also only on the 48 PW I worked on and may be different for newer modles. I wanted to put a full flow system into my engine but re/working the oil pump to filter it was a lot of machine work to do. I also figured the engines lasted this long with out it it could do it again after being rebuilt again. Mark H.
