I thought the Oil cut out is to keep the oil presure from getting to high at higher RPNs like on most engines I have worked on. If you increse the spring presure you can raise the presure in you bearing gallery if your pump can put it out and bearings are good. When I checked my Bypass it appeared to allow the oil to just drain into the pan and the line went into the same cavity the spring release lets the oil go when it releses excess presure. I don't even have a line on mine because of no filter. I only tap off the presure port to feed my gauge in the dash. Mark H.
