I was able to cut my gas price in half or better. I drive half as much. Of course being retired helps you get away with that. Really tough on the car though. I only travel about 3 miles a week. And then only when I have to. Good thing the tank is sealed or it would evaporate on me.
I remember looking for coke bottles to get the deposit so I could pay 20 cents a gallon to take my date for a ride.
