Hold the engine speed at a fast run. If the problem disappears, then it's the low speed idle mixture. Take off the air cleaner and get a can of carb/choke cleaner spray with a tube for the nozzle. There is a small air hole inside below the choke for a passage that runs down to the air mixture screw. Spary it down that hole to clean out the passage. Also take out the screw, do the same thing, put it back in and adjust the mixture. Ajustment at operating temperature - seat the screw, back it out 2-1/2 turns, start the engine then turn it clockwise until the engine speeds up, keep turning until it begins to start slowing down. Mark the screw slot and turn the opposite direction until the engine starts slowing down. Mark the slot and turn the screw clockwise to the center of the two marks.
