The MB-2 has an open body and has a monitor (water cannon)mounted on top of the cab which has byfold doors (like those used on phone booths...). A photo of one is located on my webstite at: http://www.garbee.net/~cabell/december/frankusmc/MB2A.JPG
The R-2 Crash truck has and enclosed body with a hump protruding over the cab for interior storage of the lader and regular doors on the cab. A photo of one (that I have copied to my website) is located at: http://www.sembachveterans.org/r2.htm
Of course, if the data plates are on the dash, you can always look at them... :)
